Made for a room full of different grades

A sample class day

One way a weekly class day could run with the lessons you already get. Every lesson follows the same steps: Quick Check, I show you, We do it together, You try, Practice and Show What You Know. Change the times to fit your group.

  1. 15 min

    Opening and Quick Check

Each student takes the Quick Check for this week's math topic at their own grade. A student who aces it can go straight to practice.

  2. 40 min

    Math in grade groups

A parent leads "I show you" and "We do it together" from the lesson page. Each group then starts "You try".

  3. 15 min

    Break

    Snack and outside time.

  4. 35 min

    One shared science topic

The whole room works on one topic. Each student does the grade that fits, and everyone shares the hands-on activity.

  5. 30 min

    History or world language

Another shared topic, with discussion for older students and a song or game for the youngest.

  6. 20 min

Practice and Show What You Know

On screen or on printed sheets. Review the answers together, especially the wrong ones.

Between class days, at home

  • Families finish Practice on screen or on a printed sheet.
  • Reading and writing lessons at each student's own pace.
  • Next class day: Show What You Know for this topic, then a new one.
  • At the end of each term, print each student's progress report.

Three languages

One class, three languages

A family that speaks Spanish or Portuguese at home gets the same lesson in that language. The class stays on one topic, and parents can help in the language they know best.

  • English

How many sides does every quadrilateral have?

    Answer: 4
  • Español

    ¿Cuántos lados tiene todo cuadrilátero?

    Respuesta: 4
  • Português

    Quantos lados tem todo quadrilátero?

    Resposta: 4

The free practice sheets come in all three languages too. See the free sheets

Questions from co-ops and microschools

Can one plan cover students at different grades?
Yes. Every student gets every subject and grade, and each one keeps their own progress.
Can we print for class days?
A group plan includes everything in a membership, and a membership includes printing the lesson pages you teach from. The free practice sheets can be printed and copied for the students you teach. Workbooks are sold separately and are licensed for one household.
How is a group plan set up?
Tell us about your group with the short form on our group plans page. We reply by email, usually within two business days, and set it up with you. Nothing is charged until you say yes.
Does it help with records?
Each student's progress report shows every topic, score and date, and you can print it. Our free record-keeping pack has attendance grids, portfolio covers and reading logs. Your state's rules are still yours to meet.
Is UpOnly Learning a school?
No. We are a publisher. We do not give grades, credits or transcripts, and we are not accredited.
Do you sell a ready-made class-day packet?
Not as a separate product. The sample day on this page uses the lessons a group plan already includes.
What if our group is larger?
Ask us on our group plans page, and we will talk about the right plan for your group.
Can families try it first?
Yes. The first topic of every grade in every subject is free, along with a free sample of every workbook, the free practice sheets and the free placement test.
