Key words

  • ten thousands — the fifth place from the right; 10,000 is ten thousand
  • round — to change a number to a nearby simpler number, such as the nearest 10, 100 or 1000
  • nearest — closest; the one with the shortest distance on a number line
  • estimate — a sensible guess using rounded numbers, close to the real answer
  • approximately — about, nearly; not exact but close
