Our source rule
We cite government health agencies, professional bodies and peer-reviewed journals.
Every factual sentence names its source in words, carries a numbered link, and appears in the Sources list at the end of the page.
We cite a page only after it has been opened and read, and we record the date we checked it.
When no source we use covers a question, the page leaves it out instead of guessing.
When sources disagree, for example on which weeks make up each trimester, we show each source's own numbers side by side.
Who the facts come from
Each page credits the organizations and authors of the sources it cites, near the top of the page.
We do not present these pages as medically reviewed. Talk to your doctor, midwife or pediatrician about your own situation.
Three languages
Each page exists in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Each version is written from the same source notes, with the terms and public health systems of its own readers, and is not a word-for-word translation.
Review dates
Each page shows the date it was last reviewed and the date of its next review.
Most pages are reviewed every 12 months, and faster-changing topics every 6 months. Help lines are checked every 90 days.
Each page lists its changes at the foot of the page.
What you will not find here
No outside ads and no affiliate links.
No guessing games about a baby's sex.
No product picks. The only products we mention are our own kindergarten materials, at the end of the guide.
Corrections
If you find a mistake or an out-of-date source, please tell us. We correct the page and note the change.
