What is the weather?
Say: "Is it sunny? Cloudy? Rainy?" Your learner points to each picture and says the weather word with you.
In the box
Say: "Draw a ball in the box. Now draw a sun on top." Your learner draws something in the box, then something on top of it.
Sun and shade
Say: "Where is it sunny? Where is it shady?" Your learner points to the sun, the shade and the hat, and you talk about staying cool.

Parent notes for Friday
Not a test. Notice what your learner does this week, and practice the rest later. Nothing here is sent to UpOnly Learning.

Safety for this week
- Use objects too big to fit in your learner's mouth, and stay close during any counting or sorting with real objects.
- Water play only with an adult within arm's reach the whole time, even in a small tub.
- An adult handles anything hot or sharp, knives, and rocks or heavy objects.
- Dry beans and seeds only with an adult watching closely, and not with a learner who still puts things in their mouth.
- No scissors needed: tear paper instead. If you do use scissors, use child safety scissors with an adult right there.
- Choose crayons, markers and paint labeled for young learners (look for the AP seal).
Questions parents ask
Look out the window each morning and name the weather, dress for it together, find sun and shade, and blow a scarf on a windy day. Outside, use sunscreen, a hat and water, and stay in the shade when it is hot.
Use one box and one toy. Say the word as you move the toy, then let your learner move it when you say it. In and on come first, then under and next to.
Guidance differs: the WHO suggests no more than 1 hour of sedentary screen time a day at ages 3 to 4, and less is better. Pre-K 3 is built to work with no screen time at all: you read the plan, and your learner plays.
That is normal at this age. Do the activity standing up, on the floor or outside, keep it to a few minutes, and try again later. Every printable has a hands-on version, and moving while learning counts.
