Pre-K 4 (ages 4 to 5): the free year, week by week

What your learner will do this year: hear and find letters and sounds, write some letters of their name, count to 20, know numbers 0 to 10, and practice shapes, sorting and patterns, all through short play-based activities.

Free, with no limits. No daily caps, no card and no ads. Reading every page is open to everyone; a free adult account is needed only to download the PDFs. We never ask for your student's name or any student information.

The daily and weekly rhythm

Monday letters and sounds, Tuesday math, Wednesday explore, Thursday make and move, Friday story and review. About 15 to 20 minutes of table time a day, in short blocks, plus a read-aloud, the song of the week and lots of play outside. For a sample week and a day-by-day plan, read how to homeschool pre-k: a simple weekly schedule.

Questions parents ask

What should a 4 year old know?

Many 4 year olds name a few colors, talk in sentences of 4 or more words, tell what comes next in a familiar story and hold a crayon with fingers and thumb. Every student grows at their own pace, so use these as things to practice, not a test.

How is the pre-k 4 year organized?

There are 9 units of 4 weeks. Each week has one letter or focus, one math skill, an explore activity, a make-and-move activity and an original song. Week 4 of every unit is a review and show-me week with a parent notes page.

Can I use this as a free pre-k homeschool curriculum?

Yes. The year map gives the order, each week page gives the plan, and the PDFs give the printables. It is free to use at home or in a classroom, with no caps, no card and no ads. A free adult account is needed only to download the PDFs.

Do I need to print in color?

No. Each week comes as a color PDF and a black-and-white PDF made from the same pages. The black-and-white version uses outline pictures, so it is low ink and doubles as a coloring page. You can also do every activity with no printer at all.
