Who and how?
Say: "Who is this? How does she feel?" Your learner names each person and feeling, then colors the pictures.
Count and color to 3

Point and name
Say: "Show me the hand. Show me the foot." Your learner points to each body part and says the word.
Draw me
Say: "Draw you. Where is your head?" Your learner draws themself any way they like. Any drawing counts.

Name hunt again
- Show the name strip.
- Look for the first letter of the name on a book cover.
- Each time your learner finds it, cheer.

Next step: Look for the letter on cereal boxes too.
Say this: "That letter is in your name."
No supplies: Point to the letter in any print around you.
Language: my name
Toy count
- Your learner puts toys in the box one at a time.
- Count together as each one goes in.
- Ask "How many in the box?"
Easier: Use 2 toys.
Next step: Ask your learner to give you exactly 2.
Say this: "Give me two. One, two. Thank you."
No supplies: Count stairs or steps up to 3.
Math: counting and cardinality
Feelings guess
- You make a feelings face.
- Your learner says the feeling.
- Swap.
Easier: Choose between two words: "Happy or sad?"
Next step: Ask "What makes you feel that way?"
Say this: "I see a sad face. What happened?"
No supplies: Needs nothing.
Social-emotional: feelings words
Freeze dance
- Dance while the music plays.
- When it stops, freeze.
- Start again.
Easier: Hold hands while you dance.
Next step: Freeze in a happy shape or a sad shape.
Say this: "Freeze. Wow, you are a statue."
No supplies: Sing and stop singing instead of music.

One, two, three,
Look at me.

Parent notes for Friday
Not a test. Notice what your learner does this week, and practice the rest later. Nothing here is sent to UpOnly Learning.

Safety for this week
- Use objects too big to fit in your learner's mouth, and stay close during any counting or sorting with real objects.
- Water play only with an adult within arm's reach the whole time, even in a small tub.
- An adult handles anything hot or sharp, knives, and rocks or heavy objects.
- Dry beans and seeds only with an adult watching closely, and not with a learner who still puts things in their mouth.
- No scissors needed: tear paper instead. If you do use scissors, use child safety scissors with an adult right there.
- Choose crayons, markers and paint labeled for young learners (look for the AP seal).
Questions parents ask
Week 4 of every unit has nothing new. Your learner plays short games that bring back the unit, and you tick what you saw on the parent notes page. It is not a test; it shows what to practice next.
That is normal. Young learners need many short repeats, spread out over days. Play the review games, keep them fun, and practice the "not yet" items again during the next unit.
Many 3 year olds talk with you in short back-and-forth exchanges, ask who, what, where and why questions, say their first name, draw a circle when shown how and string large beads. Every student grows at their own pace, so use these as things to practice, not a test.
Yes. Students can learn in two languages at once, and the home language is a strong base for school. Pre-K 3 comes in English, Spanish and Portuguese, with the same weeks in each.
