I Wonder Why: Being Curious
The student will ask clear questions using words like who, what, where, when, why and how, tell ways to find answers, and explain that wondering helps the brain learn. · 40 min
“Your questions helped you figure it out. Today we'll learn about being curious.”
Make a question with 'why' about the moon.
Answer: For example: 'Why does the moon change shape?' It starts with a question word and asks something we want to know.
Asking questions means I'm not smart.
Explain that smart people ask lots of questions. Questions are how everyone learns, including scientists.
When your student asks something you don't know, say 'Great question. Let's find out together' instead of guessing; it models that not knowing is a starting point.
That is one topic of many. The free questions above check a skill; this is the part that teaches it.
